Overview

Sometimes, all you need for pure enjoyment are the essentials: a dinghy boat, a fishing rod, and a peaceful waterway.

H36 Aluminum

We believe construction materials must adhere to high standards of resilience, performance, and durability to deliver real enjoyment and nautical perfection.

With 70 years of experience, navigation, and innovation under our belt, we are the only manufacturer that crafts every inch of its hulls from H36 aluminum.

Given we use H36 aluminum, it's not surprising to see our boats on the water 25 years after they were initially manufactured. Their exceptional durability and resilience mean you can approach any shore and navigate over rocky bottoms without any fear of scratches and dents.

H36 aluminum, the hallmark of Princecraft®.

Equipment & Terms:

All rental boats are equipped with all necessary personal flotation devices, anchors and lines (as applicable), paddles or oars, and manual or electric bailers. We will also spend whatever time is necessary providing training until we're both comfortable with your handling of the unit. Gas and oil will be filled prior to departure and will be filled and charged to you upon return. A damage and security deposit is also required prior to departure (rates vary from $750 to $4,000 - see chart below). Please ensure you have cash, or enough credit available on your credit card to cover your deposit. Boats WILL NOT be released without a damage deposit in place even if the rental has been paid in full.

Amercian & overseas customers, please note:

Credit card companies have increased fraud safegaurds to protect themselves and their customers. That means you MUST inform them prior to leaving home where you are going and how much you intend to place on your card while you are away. It can take hours on the phone once you have arrived in Canada to get them to approve it after the fact so PLEASE invest the time BEFORE you leave your home country. As noted above, the boat WILL NOT be released until we have secured a damage deposit and if the credit card will not authorize, no rental refunds will be given.

Booking Deposits:

We recommend you book as early as possible as most weekends and holidays fill quickly. Please note, a NON-REFUNDABLE 50% deposit is required at time of booking (100% if booking less than a full week). The remaining 50% is due TWO WEEKS PRIOR to arrival and it too is NON-REFUNDABLE. We apologize for this rigid and non-negotiable policy, but with a short rental season and limited rental units, we have no leeway in this requirement. If you must cancel a rental, please call immediately so we can place the boat back on the available list and if we can rent to someone else, we will be happy to refund your money or part thereof

Rental periods:

One day rentals start as early as the posted open hours of the marina on that day. The boat MUST be returned one half hour before the close of business that same day to enable staff to check in the boat, and prep it for the next days rental. For example, if the marina opens at 8am and closes at 5pm (typical summer hours), then the boat can be picked up at 8am, but MUST BE returned by 4:30pm that same day. NOTE: We open at 9am on Sundays in season. If the boat is rented for 2 days in a row, then it can be signed out at 8am the first morning, but must be returned by 4:30pm the following day. No late returns are allowed as there will be no staff to receive and check in the boat. Late fees will apply for late returns as outlined on the rental contract. No discount or credit is given for late arrivals - the boat must still be returned by the stated time regardless of the departure time.

We do our best to accommodate all requests for desired dates, but during the peak summer season (mid June to Labour day) we strive to book the boats in one week blocks in line with normal check-in/check-out dates with local resorts (Saturday to Saturday). We hold these blocks until the week prior, then release the boats for shorter rental terms if they have not been booked for the week.

Please note, there is no refund or credit given for rain days.

Damages:

If a boat is damaged during the rental period, it MUST be reported as soon as it occurs so it can be assessed for the future safety of passengers, and preventing further damage to the unit. We understand accidents can and do happen, we simply ask for your co-operation in making things right again for everyone concerned (including the next people waiting to use the boat). If the damage has been caused through operator negligence (prop/lower unit damage, dock strikes, overheating due to weeds, wrong fuel mix or type, etc.) then repairs will be recovered from the damage deposit and no credit for down time will be given or refunded. Please note that it is the operators responsibility to monitor gauges and respond to alarms indicated by the engine. If a mechanical failure occurs that is not the fault of the operator, credit for downtime will be given or another boat swapped in depending on the circumstances. Please note, the damage deposit is NOT the maximum your are responsible for, it represents coverage for most damage events that might take place during the normal course of operation based on our experience. The renter is responsible for 100% of all damages, even if they exceed the damage deposit that was secured on departure. Details of this policy are provided prior to departure.

Licensing Requirements:

There is much confusion about the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) in Canada with respect to rental boats. In short, you don't need one when renting a boat.

The following is a summary of the applicable regulations relating specifically to rental boats:

Section 4

  • (1) Subject to subsection (2), a person is competent to operate a pleasure craft
  • (c) in the case of a rented pleasure craft,
  • (i) only for the rental period, if both the person who makes the pleasure craft

available for rent and the person who will operate the pleasure craft complete and sign before the pleasure craft is operated, a rental boat safety checklist that contains the information referred to in section 8,

Section 8

Rental Boat Safety Checklist

A person who makes a pleasure craft available for rent must include, in a rental boat safety checklist, a statement that they have given to the persons who will operate the pleasure craft information pertaining to:

  • (a) the operation of the pleasure craft;
  • (b) the principal boating safety rules; and
  • (c) the geographic features and hazards in the area in which the pleasure craft will be operated.
