Marina Operations Lead (Team Leader)

Job Overview
The staff at Brown’s Marina are the frontline ambassadors of our operations. As the Marina Operations Lead, you will oversee day-to-day activities while working alongside our team to ensure the smooth operation of our docks, retail store, and boat yard. This is a "working lead" role designed for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in providing exceptional service to the boating community.
This is a 6-7 month contract that runs from April to October, renewed
annually for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Training
Oversee and support junior dock and store staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Train new team members on marina protocols, fueling safety, and retail procedures.
Act as the primary point of contact for staff questions during shift rotations.
2. Retail & Inventory Management

Manage Inventory: Perform weekly ordering to replenish grocery, beer, and LCBO stock; conduct regular inventory counts and controls.

Retail Operations: Handle sales transactions, maintain store cleanliness, and manage the bottle deposit return program.

Merchandising: Receive, check, and shelve stock as it arrives, ensuring shelves are organized and well-presented.
3. Dock & Yard Operations

Vessel Support: Greet customers and provide expert assistance with docking and undocking.

Technical Services: Execute fueling operations and pump-out services while strictly adhering to environmental and safety protocols.

Boat Care: Lead the team in cleaning and prepping boats to high standards.
4. Customer Relations
- Provide local knowledge and guidance regarding attractions, services, and marina policies.
- Assist in the coordination of marina events and community activities.
Qualifications

Experience: Previous experience in a retail, hospitality, or marina environment; prior supervisory or "team lead" experience is a strong asset.

Boating Knowledge: Comfort working on and around the water; basic knowledge of boat handling is preferred.

Retail Skills: Experience with POS systems, inventory management, or ordering. (Note: Must be 18+ to handle LCBO/Beer sales).

Soft Skills: Excellent customer service skills with a "problem-solver" mindset.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform manual tasks (lifting stock, cleaning boats) and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Availability: Must have the flexibility to work weekends and holidays during the peak boating season.
